SAGINAW, Mich. — An inmate whose sentence was recently commuted by former President Obama was killed by two masked gunmen Monday.

Police told MLive.com that the two gunmen entered a federal halfway house with assault-style rifles and fatally shot Demarlon C. Thomas.

Investigators said Thomas, 31, was shot in the head and body numerous times while the other gunman held members of the house at gunpoint.

“One person watched over a group of them while another subject located the victim and executed him,” Lt. David Kaiser said. “They were looking for this person.”

No one else was injured and no suspects are in custody.

Thomas, a former member of the Sunny Side Gang, had his 19-year drug sentence commuted by Obama in November, according to the publication.
