ALBANY, N.Y. — New York’s attorney general has accused a former official in the state corrections department of sexually harassing a subordinate.
Authorities say James Ferro, former director of operations with the department’s Special Investigations Unit, has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges that include forcible touching, official misconduct, coercion and harassment.
He could face up to two years in jail. He is due back in Albany City Court on Jan. 26.
Authorities say the employee, after complaining to Ferro’s supervisor about the harassment in 2012, faced retaliation including an altered work schedule and prohibition from earning overtime.
