ATLANTA — Jails like Fulton County’s are designed to keep criminals locked up and away from the general public.
“Everyone should realize jails in general are dangerous places,” said Colonel Mark Adger. “We are doing everything we can to make the environment as safe as it can be.” Donnie Weeks’ backyard is about as close to the Fulton County jail as you can get.
“When all of this [trees and shrubs] is dead we have an excellent view of the jail,” said Weeks. Weeks said in the three years that he has lived next to the jail, he and his neighbors have only experienced a few minor problems.
“One time they had an inmate on the first floor, he opened a window and he was screaming in the parking lot, but they changed that real quick,” said Weeks. Weeks is happy to find out Fulton County is now taking extra measures to keep the criminals from getting out.
