INDIANAPOLIS — A detention officer was injured after a 14-year-old at a juvenile detention center repeatedly punched and kicked her.

RTV6 reported that the Marion County detention officer was sent for medical treatment on Sunday, but the incident wasn’t documented until Tuesday.

The injuries to the 28-year-old officer were serious enough to warrant medical attention. The teen resident was placed in isolation following the violent incident.

According to RTV6, this is the second time in several months that a guard has been injured by a juvenile inmate.

In June, a detention officer was injured when a 15-year-old boy choked the officer using his shirt. Police reported the boy slammed the officer to the ground. The inmate also tried to attack another officer.
