OROVILLE, Calif. — A correctional deputy found a Butte County Jail inmate hanging in his cell about 6:30 p.m. Monday, and got him to the floor and started CPR.
After several minutes of CPR by the deputy, and later by paramedics, inmate Mark Anthony Hall, 24, was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, according to a Butte County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Hall was booked into the jail Friday on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and an alleged probation violation, the sheriff’s office reported.
He is listed as a Magalia resident in his booking information.
The sheriff’s office and district attorney’s office responded and are investigating the attempted suicide.
