Allegedly forced inmates to fight one another for special privileges

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A so-called “fight club” at the York County Prison is the reason why three corrections officers appeared in Court Wednesday. They’re accused of running the fights, in exchange for special privileges.

An inmate testified in court that the three officers made his snort chili powder. He also said an officer made another inmate drink 15 milk cartons until he threw up. But the defense attorneys representing the officers say the incidents were consensual and not a crime. Judge Barry Bloss ruled there’s enough evidence for Daniel Graff, David Whitcomb and Mark Haynes to stand trial. They’re charged with official oppression. But their attorneys disagree.

Graff’s attorney, Steve Rice says, “You have the CO’s versus the south block snitches. This case comes down to their credibility.”
