GREENSBURG, Pa. — The state paid a Woods Run corrections officer $9,000 and will let him retire to settle his claims that officials retaliated against him after he filed age and sex discrimination complaints.
Jon P. Tustin, 49, of Waynesburg claimed that prison officials passed him over for promotion to major, stripped him of some of his duties and assigned him to less favorable shifts.
The Department of Corrections denied retaliating against Tustin and said it responded to his complaints despite his refusal to help officials with their investigation. The agency denies in the settlement that it did anything wrong, according to a document it released in response to a Tribune-Review Right to Know request.
As part of the settlement, Tustin is on administrative leave until he retires in October.
