AUBURN, N.Y. — After being found guilty by a jury in July, a man formerly incarcerated at Auburn Correctional Facility has been sentenced to another seven years in prison for assaulting an officer there.
Quincy Lundy, 34, was sentenced Tuesday in Cayuga County Court by Judge Jon Budelmann.
He was charged with second-degree assault for punching an officer during a pat frisk in the mess hall in March 2024, fracturing bones in the officer’s face.
At the time, Lundy was serving a sentence of 25 years to life for a 2014 second-degree murder conviction in Onondaga County, the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Lundy is currently incarcerated at Coxsackie Correctional Facility. His assault sentence will be served consecutively to his current one.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher Valdina handled the prosecution.
“Correction officers put themselves in harm’s way every day to maintain safety and security inside our correctional facilities,” District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci said.
“An unprovoked act of violence against an officer will not be tolerated, and those who commit these assaults will be held accountable. My office remains committed to protecting those who serve our communities and ensuring that violent offenders face the consequences of their actions.”
