GERING, Neb. — The Scotts Bluff County jail director has been fined and ordered to serve 12 months of probation for drunken driving.
The Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports that 61-year-old Ron Johns was sentenced on Monday. The fine and court costs totaled nearly $1,100. Johns had pleaded guilty in April to misdemeanor driving under the influence.
An arrest affidavit says Gering police were contacted on July 29, 2014, about an accident. An officer found Johns’ vehicle with extensive damage in the middle of a road at the crash scene.
The officer says in the arrest affidavit that he smelled alcohol coming from Johns and that Johns slurred his words as he talked to the officer. Johns was arrested after a preliminary breath test.
