2 inmates charged with stabbing NC CO

Officer Alexander Dixon remains hospitalized

GREENE COUNTY, N.C. — Two inmates who have attacked correctional officers before have been charged in the stabbing of a Maury Correctional Institution officer.

Quincy Jackson, 22, and Emmanuel Burney, 26, allegedly stabbed Officer Alexander Dixon Sunday evening, WITN reported.

Sheriff Lemmie Smith said Dixon remains at a local hospital. There were no reports on his condition.

Both men have a history of attacking correctional officers.

According to the news station, Burney was convicted in 2013 of assault on an officer from Greene County. Jackson was convicted in 2014 of assault inflicting serious injury to a probation and parole officer while on duty. The inmates are also serving time for armed robbery convictions.
