IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Two officers suffered injuries after an inmate attacked them Sunday morning.
An officer was passing out food trays when inmate Joshua Lail attempted to throw an unknown substance at the officer, WCNC reported. The inmate was subdued with pepper spray.
As two COs were escorting Lail to the shower, he became aggressive and attacked them.
An officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of face scratches and a bite wound on his arm. The second CO injured her knee and ring finger.
Lail faces charges of two counts of felony assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of misdemeanor assault on a government official.
