DOVER, Del. — Three correctional officers in Delaware were injured in a struggle with a disorderly and disruptive inmate Monday evening.
Officers at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center were called to deal with the combative inmate, who reportedly charged and threw punches at the COs during the confrontation, WBOC reports. One officer suffered a dislocated shoulder while another sustained a back injury.
Geoff Klopp, president of the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware, said the confrontation followed multiple incidents involving combative inmates over the weekend.
The incident comes just months after a deadly inmate uprising that killed CO Steven Floyd.
