FRESNO, Calif. — A corrections officer who was critically injured when a parolee opened fire in a jail lobby was transferred to a different hospital for rehab Friday.
KFSN reported that CO Toamalama Scanlan has been in the neuro-intensive care unit at a local hospital undergoing treatment since the Sept. 3 attack.
He was transferred to a Houston rehabilitation hospital by air ambulance. The hospital specializes in rehabilitation for brain injuries, according to the news station.
Officer Janita Davila was also critically injured when the felon opened fire in Fresno County Jail. She was released from the hospital Sept. 16, KFSN reported. She is recovering at home.
