SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. — An inmate in the Sequoyah County Jail, who has known he was HIV positive for 12 years, has been charged with assault and battery on a detention officer, after biting the officer hard enough to draw blood.
According to the jail report, John Stephen MacMillan, 56, of Sallisaw, was booked into the jail on April 11 on charges of public intoxication, disturbing the peace and failure to appear and pay warrants.
Detention Officer Danny Long reported that while escorting MacMilan to a cell, MacMilan became belligerent. Long tried to subdue MacMilan by grabbing him by the back of the shirt collar. MacMilan refused to comply with the officer and began to struggle.
