LIMESTONE, Ala. — An inmate assaulted a Limestone County Jail CO with bodily fluids while he was being escorted to a different part of the jail.
CO Sheila Vickers said she entered a cell block Monday to speak to inmate Myndarius Rogers about being at the door while she was escorting female inmates, a report obtained by the E News Courier states.
Vickers said she told Rogers to back away from the glass twice, but he didn’t comply. She took the TV remote from the day room and removed Rogers from the day room to speak to him in the hall. When she reopened the door, inmate Corey Denille Jefferson, 30, said it wasn’t fair that the whole block was punished for Rogers’ actions.
Jefferson became more aggressive and began cursing at Vickers. She removed him and escorted him to the booking department. Jefferson then stopped walking, cleared his throat and spat in Vickers’ face.
According to the report, CO Ron Andris, who witnessed the assault, attempted to handcuff Jefferson but was pushed against a wall. Sgt. Jon Russell then pepper sprayed Jefferson and Andris was able to handcuff the inmate.
Jefferson is charged with assault with bodily fluids.
