KINGSTON, N.Y. — A former inmate at the Ulster County Jail was charged with a felony for throwing urine at a corrections officer earlier this year.
Dayshawn Allen, 23, is currently in the custody of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
A news release issued by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Allen was an inmate at the county jail on April 21 when he called a corrections officer over to his cell and threw liquid on the officer as he approached. An examination of the officer’s clothing by a state police laboratory revealed the liquid contained urine.
Allen subsequently was indicted by an Ulster County grand jury for aggravated harassment of an employee by an inmate, a felony. He was arraigned in Ulster County Court on Wednesday and returned to the custody of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, pending further court action.
