CLALLAM BAY — An inmate who reportedly stabbed a Clallam Bay Corrections Center officer in the face and neck has been transferred to a prison in Aberdeen while Clallam Bay staff continues to investigate the assault.
Carlos Avalos, 19, was listed as an inmate at the 1,936-inmate Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen as of Saturday, according to the Department of Corrections website.
Avalos reportedly stabbed an unidentified male corrections officer at the 850-inmate Clallam Bay prison at about 10 a.m. Feb. 3 with what has been described as a pointed object, according to Corrections.
The assault sent the officer to Olympic Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and triggered a lockdown, in which inmates are confined to their cells, that had lasted the better part of a week.
The corrections officer was discharged from the hospital not long after the assault.
