HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. — A Harlan County inmate escaped after holding a metal object to a deputy jailer’s throat, state police say.
Christopher Thacker, 21, was riding with a deputy jailer who was returning him to the Harlan County Detention Center from Harlan ARH Hospital at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from state police.
While they were on Ky. 38 in the Ages community, Thacker held “an unknown metal object” to the deputy jailer’s throat and “told the deputy he would cut him if he didn’t release him,” according to the release.
Thacker was released; the deputy was not injured.
State police said Thacker was last seen wearing an orange jump suit, white T-shirt and one flip-flop. He is 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds, with red hair and hazel eyes. Anyone with information should call state police at (606) 573-3131.
