LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas corrections officer has died after being found unconscious while on duty.
Officials said Officer Kyle Eng was found unconscious at the Las Vegas Detention Center on Thursday morning, KVVU-TV reported. Eng was taken to a hospital where he could not be revived.
A cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Eng was 51 years old, according to the Las Vegas-Review Journal.
Eng had been employed with Las Vegas’ Department of Safety since January. Las Vegas Metro police are assisting with a follow-up investigation, which is part of the jail’s protocol.
Flags at city officers were lowered to half-staff in honor of Eng.
