Mo. inmate charged with assaulting CO

Officers were conducting a strip search of the inmate before the attack

MINERAL POINT, Mo. — An offender serving time in the Potosi Correctional Center has been charged with assaulting a corrections officer.

According to a probable cause statement from the Washington County Prosecutors office, Michael Harrison, 27, has been charged with two counts of a class B felony of committing violence against an employee of the department of corrections.

It was reported that in late June two corrections officers were conducting a strip search of Harrison in housing unit two, B-Wing at the Potosi Correctional Center when Harrison became combative. According to the statement, Harrison kicked one officer in the head and grabbed the other officer’s arm, causing abrasions.
