BROOKLYN — Two inmates were stabbed in the stomach and an officer was punched in the head hours after correction officers found three makeshift blades inside the Brooklyn House of Detention, jail records show.
The attacks came after a special search team flooded the Brooklyn jail. They found two sharpened pieces of glass — one wrapped in tape in a janitors’s closet and another on top of a wall beam. They also discovered a sharpened comb under the day room television, jail records show.
“This assault on our officer was unacceptable,” said department spokeswoman Eve Kessler. “We have zero tolerance for assaults on staff and are deeply committed to creating a culture of safety at the Department of Correction.”
