Official: NJ CO died of self-inflicted gunshot wound at jail

42-year-old Timothy Stoll was off-duty at the time of the incident and shot himself in an isolated section of the jail

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — A corrections officer who was found dead at a jail Sunday succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp told the Morris News Bee 42-year-old Timothy Stoll was off-duty at the time of the incident and shot himself in an isolated section of the Morris County jail that inmates could not access.

Stoll was a 12-year veteran of the Morris County Bureau of Corrections.
