EASTON, Pa. — A man incarcerated in the Northampton County Prison is accused of spraying bodily waste onto a correctional officer, just days before being cleared of the charges that landed him behind bars in the first place.

Lehigh Valley Live reports that Mario J. Figueroa, 36, was arraigned Wednesday on the new charges and returned to the prison.

He was originally incarcerated while awaiting trial for robbery and allegedly punching a woman while attempting to steal her purse.

Those charges were dismissed after the alleged victim refused to testify.

While he was awaiting trial, Figueroa allegedly used a spray bottle to dispense urine onto a correctional officer’s arm through the food tray slot in his cell door.

The officer sprayed sought treatment at a nearby hospital. A second officer witnessed the event.

Figueroa is now charged with aggravated harassment by a prisoner, simple assault and harassment. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 27.
