MOSCOW, Idaho — Investigators are working to determine what caused a fire that damaged the Idaho Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Office.

Firefighters got to the scene in South Moscow at about 8:00 Thursday morning. Fire Chief Ed Button said the fire started on the outside of the building and moved inside. Button said they’re not sure what started the fire, but they’re calling it suspicious because of its origin and the fact that it’s a government building that contains sensitive files.

“Part of our operation, also, was tarps to protect the files, the electronics, the computers and things like that,” said Button. “That’s something we do in every situation.”
