ROCHESTER, NY — After calls to reform the state parole system following the arrest of Shaun Zimmer Thursday, the head of the parole officers union is speaking out.

“The knee jerk reaction of blaming parole is just a little disturbing,” said Tony Perez, who represents hundreds of parole officers statewide.

On Thursday leaders in Gates claimed parole officers had lost track of Shaun Zimmer, the man accused of trying to stab a Gates Police Officer after a string of robberies.
