CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Municipal Court has received the Probation Improvement and Incentive Grant, which is designed to reduce the number of inmates at the local jail for probation violations.
The grant amounts to $127,414 and will be used to pay for electronic monitoring equipment, cognitive behavioral therapy as well as another probation officer for the court, according to Jason McGowan, chief probation officer.
McGowan said the grant is offered to common pleas courts, municipal courts and county probation departments to help them adopt evidence-based practices to reduce the number of offenders on probation or supervision who violate their conditions of their supervision.
At Judge Gary Dumm’s request, McGowan said he applied for the grant through the ODRC.
