STROUDSBURG, Pa. — A parole officer managed to fire three shots as he was dragged by a suspected drug dealer’s vehicle.
The Pa Homepage reports that the officer was attempting to arrest Mahmoud Abuhadbu after observing him performing a drug transaction.
Abuhadbu refused to get out of the vehicle, causing the officer to open the car door. As he did so, Abuhadbu stepped on the gas, dragging the officer down the street. The officer fired three shots from his agency-issued Glock handgun and was thrown from the vehicle. No one was hit.
The officer later told investigators he thought he was going to die. He suffered elbow and shoulder injuries. His name has not been released.
Abuhadbu continued to drive and allegedly tossed out a bag containing 425 packets of suspected heroin. He was eventually found and arrested by police.
He is scheduled to have a court hearing later this month.
