AUSTIN, Texas — Texas police say a man claimed to have terminal breast cancer so he could avoid meeting with his probation officer.
An arrest affidavit said Brian Jeffrey Bonniwell, 32, gave his probation officer a letter that appeared to be from a cancer treatment center in Austin, according to The Associated Press. He allegedly used the letter to get out of meetings with his probation officer.
The letter said he had been diagnosed with “invasive ductal carcinoma and was undergoing treatment,” according to reports.
Bonniwell is facing a felony charge of fabricating physical evidence. He is in the Travis County jail on several felony charges.
