CO charged with exposing himself to inmate

DNA testing found semen in a bowl, corroborating the inmate’s story

LINO LAKES, Minn. — A corrections officer allegedly showed his genitals to an inmate on several occasions while on duty at a medium-security prison, resulting in indecent exposure charges.

Timothy James Korsmoe is accused of occasionally entering the cell of a particular inmate whenever the man’s cellmate was gone, according to Twin Cities.

The inmate informed prison officials that Korsmoe began to talk sexually and asked about the man’s sexuality. He eventually began exposing himself in the man’s cell and asked the man to do the same.

On one occasion, Korsmoe allegedly masturbated in front of the inmate and ejaculated into a bowl. The bowl was later tested alongside a DNA sample from Korsmoe, who denied the charges. The sample was found to match the semen found in the bowl.

Korsmoe was charged in December and made his first court appearance Monday. He is on paid leave.
