PEORIA — A Peoria County corrections officer was tased and arrested by a deputy early Saturday after allegedly refusing to drop a knife when ordered.
James Berry, 24, of 610 N. Runkle St., Hanna City, was booked into Peoria County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault to a police officer.
He was released on a notice to appear for the misdemeanor charge not long after his 3:30 a.m. arrest.
Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy confirmed Berry has been placed on paid administrative leave, and an internal investigation will begin after charges have been resolved.
