SAN DIEGO — A prison guard is behind bars after federal investigators allegedly caught him in a cocaine deal last week, according to court documents.

Matthew Gutierrez, a guard at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown San Diego, was arrested Sept. 7 after agents found him with 11 ounces of fake cocaine. He has been charged with one count of attempting to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute.

A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 21. He is being held at another facility rather than MCC to prevent possible conflicts.
