SPRINGVILLE, Ala. — V’aires Davis, a former correction officer at the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville, has been arrested for trying to smuggle marijuana into the prison.
“When he reported to work on Thursday, Davis was inspected at the facility’s checkpoint and in his possession prison officials found marijuana wrapped in black tape,” stated a news release from the Alabama Department of Corrections.
Davis, 24, resigned after his arrest. He had worked with ADOC since June 2015.
“Most correctional officers are committed to their profession in corrections and are dedicated to the ADOC values of professionalism, integrity and accountability,” said Corrections Commissioner Jeff Dunn in the release. “However, the small percentage of officers who elect to engage in corrupt conduct will be terminated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
