PITTSBURGH — For the second day in a row, prosecutors filed additional charges against a suspended SCI-Pittsburgh guard.
Harry Nicoletti, 59, of Coraopolis, now faces 117 charges, including sexual assault, indecent assault and related offenses. Nicoletti is in the midst of a preliminary hearing that will determine if he will stand trial.
Prosecutors said Nicoletti targeted inmates convicted of sexual crimes against children, sexually assaulting some, and enticed inmates into attacking other inmates.
Allegheny County Assistant District Attorney John Pittman said yesterday that after prosecutors filed 92 counts against Nicoletti in September, additional inmates came forward with allegations of abuse. Prosecutors filed 14 charges today and 11 Wednesday.
Nicoletti is one of seven SCI-Pittsburgh guards charged. Authorities last month charged six guards with similar offenses. They are scheduled for preliminary hearings in January.
Also, the Department of Justice last week announced it is investigating whether inmates’ civil rights were violated at SCI-Pittsburgh and SCI-Cresson in Cambria County.
