SALEM, Ore. — Salem police arrested a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy Monday night on charges of sex abuse and custodial sexual misconduct.
Deputy Mark Samuels, 54, faces 14 counts related to a sexual relationship with a female inmate of the Marion County Jail.
Marion County Sheriff’s officials were alerted about the allegations in December 2011. That’s when Sheriff Jason Myers asked the Washington County Sheriff’s office to conduct an independent investigation into Samuels.
Washington County investigators then looked into allegations that Samuels had inappropriate contact with a female inmate in the Marion County Jail.
