RIKERS ISLAND, N.Y. — A Rikers Island officer is being probed for allegedly having a relationship with a career criminal who did a yearlong stint there, officials said.
It wasn’t clear whether the liaison started before, during or after the perp’s incarceration, but Correction Officer Shasseania Pittman, 38, faces possible dismissal and criminal charges, according to authorities.
Artis Arthur, 43, of Brooklyn was at Rikers from September 2007 to October 2008. He was shot to death last Nov. 15 at the now-shuttered Juliet Supper Club in Manhattan. Pittman was listed as Arthur’s fiancée on his death certificate.
