Tenn. sheriff fires CO charged with vandalizing police car, fighting officer

Faces charges of public intoxication, assault, vandalism, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct

KNOXVILLE — Knox County Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones this morning fired a corrections officer accused of ripping a side view mirror from a city police cruiser and fighting the officer while intoxicated.

Corrections Officer Joshua McGill, 23, of Knoxville faces charges of public intoxication, assault, vandalism, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.

Records show McGill was released from the jail where he worked on a $1,000 bond.
