The tape shows corrections officers chasing an inmate through Albany County jail

ALBANY, N.Y. — Corrections officer and “filmmaker” Charles Higgins created a two-minute comedic movie with tape taken from jail surveillance cameras four years ago, and his bosses aren’t happy about it.

The footage shows corrections officers chasing an inmate through Albany County jail. The action is sped up, making the escape attempt feel like a silent movie comedy.

Higgins allegedly got his hands on the video after officials allowed him to investigate the injury of a corrections officer in the chase.

Higgins allegedly met with an internal affairs official, but it’s not known if he was disciplined, according to reports.

“We’re not paying our guys to be making comedy skits and videos of incidents that occur at our jail,” said Craig Apple, who’s in charge of the sheriff’s office and jail according to the Times Union.

The video was sent to the Times Union by a former corrections officer who led the chase and feels the video ridiculed him.

He said the video was shown at the police academy and at a CPR training session.
