GREENWOOD, W.Va. — A former corrections officer at North Central Regional Jail has been arrested for sexual misconduct with an inmate.
West Virginia State Police say 19-year-old Jerrel Jones of Parkersburg was arrested Friday. He was charged with six counts of imposition of sexual acts on a person incarcerated or under supervision.
State police say the charges relate to Jerrel’s sexual involvement with a female inmate while he was employed at the jail.
The arrest is the latest black eye for corrections officers. Fifteen officers are on suspension at Western Regional Jail for various charges. Another officer, William Roy Wilson, was charged in September with sexually abusing three female inmates at Southern Regional Jail.
Jones was arraigned Friday in Doddridge County Magistrate Court.
It was not immediately known whether he had an attorney.
