ORLANDO, Fla. — An internal investigation shows a Florida inmate was given special privileges in exchange for financial advice.
According to KARE 11, the Orange County Corrections Department found that Robert Potchen gave five corrections officers advice on their taxes, student loans and mortgages in exchange for special privileges like access to the internet and Chinese food. The inmate was also allowed to hang out outside of his cell.
Potchen is serving a 15-year prison sentence for pulling a gun on his wife but was in jail as he waited for a hearing on a probation violation.
The corrections officers involved have resigned or retired from their positions.
