JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man who killed a long-time acquaintance following a fight over $5 is now behind bars.
WOKV reports that police have apprehended James Russell, 29, for the 2012 shooting death of Phillippe Foster, 39.
An original argument over money escalated to a fistfight, which Russell allegedly lost. He left and later found Foster on a street corner.
“He came back as the victim was standing near a street corner, raised the gun, and shot him multiple times,” says JSO Assistant Chief Chris Butler.
Russell fled the scene, even as police rushed to get a warrant together for his arrest. He was later arrested in 2013 in Georgia for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, where he served out his sentence and was then extradited back to Florida.
He’s now been booked for the 2012 murder.
