KNOX CO, Ind. — The ISP and Knox Co. deputies say they discovered 15 marijuana plants Tuesday afternoon after going to a home to make a welfare check. Authorities say they were looking into the welfare of a woman at 619 North Washington Road in Wheatland when they discovered the plants.
Troopers entered the residence and found Brian L. Brumett, 53, hiding in a closet, and evidence that his wife, Thelma Brumett, 40, had been battered. Further investigation revealed that Brumett allegedly battered his wife sometime after midnight.
Troopers say they spotted 15 cultivated marijuana plants near the residence while removing Mr. Brumett from the home.
“Some of the plants were five feet tall,” said Senior Trooper Bill Gadberry.
