TOPEKA, Kan. — Topeka police arrested a man Wednesday morning who was wanted in connection with a home invasion Tuesday after the man saw his face on television and called authorities to give himself up.

Police spokeswoman Kristen Veverka said Herman Ray Landers Jr., 32, of Topeka, was arrested without incident shortly before 11 a.m. in the 2100 block of S.W. 6th Street.

“Landers saw himself on television and called police with his location to turn himself in,” Veverka said in a news release.

Landers was booked into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and criminal possession of a firearm.

Police said a home invasion occurred at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of S.W. Twilight. Three black men wearing black hoodies and armed with a gun took an undisclosed amount of money and electronics while two residents were inside the house.

The two victims received minor injuries, police said, and refused medical treatment.

Jail records listed Landers as homeless. He also was listed as nonbondable on the aggravated robbery offense.

Police put out a news release to local media outlets after the crime asking the public for help in locating Landers, who was identified as a person of interest in the break-in.
