DOVER, N.H. — A Strafford County inmate is recovering from serious injuries after he got in a fight Monday morning with another inmate over orange juice, corrections officials said.
Sheriff Capt. Joseph DiGregorio said his office was called to the county jail early Monday after an inmate was physically assaulted following an apparent argument over how much orange juice an inmate was getting.
DiGregorio said Stephen Mercier, 44, suffered a skull fracture, bleeding in the brain and an orbital eye fracture. He was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he is listed in satisfactory condition.
