WINCHESTER, UK – A former Royal Marine nicknamed the ‘Naked Rambler’ was recently released and then promptly sent back to jail for his nudist ways.

The Mirror reports that Stephen Gough, 55, is infamous for walking around sans clothes in order to protest the idea that nudity is offensive.

His crusade has resulted in 30 convictions in the past 11 years.

Jurors returned a guilty verdict within minutes of his latest offense, leaving Winchester Prison with only his boots on. Gough is banned from appearing naked in public.

Gough was offered clothes as he left the prison, but he declined to put them on.

“It don’t make no sense to me. I want to live my life in a reasonable way,” Gough told police in an interview later that day. “I am not a robot and have to follow what makes sense to me.”

Judge Jane Miller QC repeatedly ordered for Gough to be brought up from his cell to ask him if he was prepared to put on clothes in order to be seen by the jury and participate in his own trial. Gough refused each time.

As she passed his new sentence of two and a half years, she suggested that discussions be held to try and find a closed naked community that he was prepared to live in on his next release.

Gough simply sighed in response.
