RACINE — A City of Burlington man accused of being a teddy bear bandit will spend some time behind prison bars for swiping the stuffed toy.
David L. Harris, 18, was sentenced Tuesday to one year in prison, one year on extended supervision and three years on probation in a string of criminal cases — with the most notable being the teddy bear theft.
Harris was accused of stealing a neighbor’s stuffed bear at about 4 a.m. Oct. 10 after drinking, according to his criminal complaint. The woman whose bear was stolen said the $300 stuffed animal was wearing a gold necklace and a Clay Matthews jersey, and had been sitting outside her door since January.
