EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan’s governor recently spoke to media on Tuesday regarding whether or not the Department of Corrections would continue its contract with Aramark Correctional Services.

Detroit Free Press reports that since the contract was approved seven months ago, more than 80 Aramark employees have been fired and banned from prison property for a variety of violations.

“We’re making a full review of that over the next week or two,” Rick Snyder said. “We’re having lots of discussions with the department on that issue.”

The DOC has told Aramark it could lose the contract if it doesn’t shape up.

This announcement comes after a report was issued following the February escape of Ionia Correctional Facility inmate Michael Elliot, which has prompted the facility to upgrade their security and fill in gaps.
