PATERSON, N.J. — A Passaic County corrections officer was injured Sunday morning while attempting to restrain a combative patient at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, authorities said.

The officer, Scott Wolfe, dislocated an ankle during a struggle in the hospital’s emergency room, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said Sunday.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. while Wolfe was helping the staff get the patient under control, the sheriff said.
