ROCKVILLE, Ind. — An Indianapolis woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly helping an inmate serving a 110-year sentence for murder escape from a western Indiana prison.
Jamie Long, 42, was arrested at her Indianapolis home one day after authorities arrested a prison guard for allegedly helping Sarah Pender escape Monday from the Rockville Correctional Facility.
Long is charged with aiding an escape. She’s accused of picking up Pender, 29, outside the prison shortly after authorities said prison guard Scott Spitler hid Pender in a state prison vehicle and drove her out of the medium-security prison about 50 miles west of Indianapolis.
Spitler, who was arrested Wednesday, remains in the Parke County Jail.
State correction officials said Spitler and Pender had a sexual relationship.
Pender, who remains at large, was convicted along with former Noblesville High School football star Richard “Rick” Hull Jr. in the 2000 slayings of two former roommates.
Pender received a 110-year sentence and Hull was sentenced to 75 years.
