POPE COUNTY, Ark. — Two corrections officers and four inmates were arrested following an assault on an inmate at the county jail in Russellville, Arkansas Online reports.
Prosecutors said the two COs, Officers William Tarvin and Zachary Sink, had prior knowledge that the assault was going to happen. They both have been charged with second-degree battery.
According to a press release, inmates Cameron Jolley, 33; Douglas DuVall, 22; Clarence Robinson, 35; and James Avinger, 26, were also charged with second-degree battery.
Pope County Sheriff Shane Jones said in the news release that an investigation was launched as soon as he learned what had happened at the jail.
“This administration will not tolerate any improper or illegal activity,” Jones said in the release.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.
No other details were immediately available.
