Police say 42-year-old Lisa Scott of Akron left 1-year-old Aolani McCray in the vehicle for about four hours

AKRON, Ohio — Authorities say an Ohio home day-care worker has been charged with reckless homicide and child endangering in the death of a baby left in a parked sport-utility vehicle on a hot summer day.

Police say 42-year-old Lisa Scott of Akron left 1-year-old Aolani McCray in the vehicle for about four hours on Sept. 2. The child died of heat-related injuries.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Scott was in Akron Municipal Court on Tuesday and a judge set bond at $25,000.

Assistant City Prosecutor Craig Morgan tells the newspaper Scott is remorseful and it appears to be an accident. He says she unloaded four other children from the car but forgot McCray in a third row rear seat.

Messages seeking comment were left for Scott’s attorney.
